How i Solved a Murder in 30 seconds

Years ago i was asked to look at a murder that just occurred, no leads.

We were driving towards a mansion and i got briefed about a guy that got his head bashed in all doors and windows were closed only his wife was home.

"must have been the wife"

"improbable" they said - i smiled

I thought did they come trough the chimney? 

We arrive at the house, detectives were there, door opens and i walk in first.

The first thing that caught my eye was a huge fireplace, unlit, some ashes,

I walk up and say "what a beautiful fireplace" i notice there is no fire poker, the ashes were undisturbed.

I thought it could have been his wife, as i stand up i see a red mark on the left inside wall of the fireplace,

Yep sharp tapered fingerprint, fingerprint of a woman who did no hard labor,

I thought, the fire poker is stashed in the chimney, she steadied herself as she put it on a ridge in the fireplace,

blood on her left hand means she is left handed, right handed batter bats with his right hand on top, left handed batter bats with left hand on top.

If she is left handed she did it, so i gave her a pad and ask for her phone number, i tell her these things can take a while.

Yep left handed, about 30 seconds in the house now.

They ask me to see the body, "no thanks" i look at her, and think prison is no place for a woman around 60, i take her aside of the cops and i ask her why did you do it?

Stupidly she starts yelling, "you think i did it you son of a bitch", i got angry and took the fire poker out the chimney.

Turns out her husband (a fellow Mason) was cheating on her, with younger girls.

We talked to the 2 detectives and got her off the hook.

Had sex with her the next day, a form of bonding i guess. :)
