Nice one. Too bad the movie itself was kind of a flop. Aliens (2) set the bar so high that nothing has come even close.

Aliens is definitely the majority favorite, and the most fun of the alien experiences. There is a slight divide in the Alien community that largely lies between those that prefer the action oriented and universe expanding direction of Aliens, and those that prefer the horror driven tone of the first.
Alien 3 is a real shock to the system if you watched the others first in many ways. When I first saw it as a kid I was disappointed because I was expecting a continuation of the Aliens experience. And the first time it's hard to tell the characters apart and appreciate the parts each of them played.
However, Alien 3 is a film that I appreciate more with repeat viewings especially the directors cut as with all of them. The characters carry the story, and the film gives Alien fans a lot to talk about for how simple the setting is comparatively. Out of all of them it's the most emotional experience.

Same here. As a kid, you couldn't really appreciate it for what it was. It was bleak, limited action and too much talking ;)
Kinda the same deal with the first Rambo. Didn't like it as a kid, now it's the only one with some depth.
