Yeah I wouldn't start playing with those transformers.
A few months back had a close call at work when fixing a lathe. Had been at it the whole day checking the wiring and trying find out whats wrong with it. Every time I went to to fiddle with the machine's wires, I checked and double-checked it was not connected to the mains. Must have done that 15 times on the same day.
Once I figured out what was wrong and got it working, at that point I just started unscrewing the mains wire of the machine and totally forgot it was still connected to the wall. I pulled the wires out and luckily they contacted each other and tripped the braker. Almost shat myself when the thing popped, thinking what the fuck am I doing. 400V might not be as bad as the picture above but will stop your ticker easily.

I get zapped by 220V quite a bit because depending on how many clocks I have to reset I sometimes don't trip the breakers for jobs around the house. With 400V it is imperative, though!
