It's kind of like an acid trip through hell but we never lose our Humanity. Cage has to act like a demon but it's necessary.

I thought it was alright, but Cosmatos should've fully committed to the hillbilly fantasy bit, rather than just throwing in some out-of-place demon bikers. I would've loved to have seen the Children of the New Dawn as full-fledged wizards shooting lightning bolts and shit.

It's a study of the deep sickness that can come from misplaced devotion - there are parralels to the Westboro Baptist Church here. The cult leader here is appropriating the authority of God to make himself the focus of devotion for those who are weak-minded and weak-willed, desperate for some kind of purpose in their lives.
The mistake the cult leader makes with Mandy is not recognizing that she is neither weak-willed nor weak-minded - even when drugged up to presumably rob her of her agency. She still maintains her agency regardless, she maintains the integrity of her soul, her self, and for this they burn her alive. And her genuinely loving other half - the other part that made a whole of two souls - exacts justice to honor her strength and her "SELF" and because all of these fucking fools needed to die. Now.
Manwe lets TULKAS off the chain, and tells him to go do his thing. It's glorious.

You could also argue that Red himself appropriates the authority of God when he hunts the cult down.......but none of that overshadows demon bikers with knife dicks.
Also, the tonal shift of the film from "serious" to "B-flick" was a bit too jarring, IMHO, but an interesting choice nonetheless.
It was a good watch overall, but I would've given it 5-stars with a hotdog on top if it went full red neck Lord of the Rings.
