sure, but while both are state-sponsored, at least in the US if you disagree you can petition the school board or try to join it, criticize the education ministry and try to get others to side with you and overturn the rule, and protest and vote against the party pushing for it.
agree with your second point. stupid or just afraid of being labelled phobic and the trouble that bring, or just want to support "their team" and thus all the positions that team has taken. the chinabots though legit do get paid for posting pro-CCP content, that's a real thing. ones that have a large following are even offered perks like free travel for posting pro-CCP content.
