Chiang Kai Shek tried absolute dictatorship in China last century. They kicked his ass out & he went into hiding in Taiwan, only surviving with American support. He ruled Taiwan under martial law & heavy oppression until his death in 1975, when power was handed to his son.
PRC could be considered a democratic dictatorship under CCP rule, even though there are about 7 political parties incl Chiang's party (KMT). The idea that they don't respond to the people's demands or that the CCP chairman has no accountability is ignorant & illogical.
