...in order to pick up an award they wanted to give her. Many kudos for taking that stand, she must've known what it would mean. They have naturally already branded her an anti-semite and/or self-hater.
On the subject matter itself, I think Dore is correct in that the moral obligation falls highest on whoever has the power. That's the whole reason we have the expression "to be the bigger man." Israel could have settled the matter but instead they're continuing to settle more of their own people on confiscated land outside the borders of Israel, which is proof they don't want a 2-state solution at all, whatever their excuses may be.
Also why is this the first I'm hearing of "BDS" and a boycott of Israel?

Nice. She can be forgiven for supporting Hillary.
Israel has been sniping protesters for the past few weeks, incl journalists & children. The death tole so far is 42 & many wounded with some kind of new bullets designed to inflict permanent wounds. No Israeli soldiers have been injured or even threatened - they're not even within stone-throwing range or the border wall.
(Old Spike)
Looks like a bunch of sour grape Muslims doing stupid shit.
(Old Spike)
And Christians (link)
But yeah, sniping protestors is perfectly normal behaviour for a "the only democracy in the Middle East".
(Old Spike)
If their are Christians there now, there won't be if the Muslims gain real power.
(Old Spike)
that's supposition. you can't punish and blame an entire country full of people for something they may or may not do in the future.
(Old Spike)
Ugh, supposition based on history my friend. This is Gaza. The whole notion that Isreal is preventing the losers of the 1948 war of independence from becoming sucessfull has been proven horse shit.
Gaza has been free of Isreali troops since 2005. The people who call themselves "Palestinians" had the perfect opprotunity to establish a working government and functional society. Sadly this not happen as they simply cannot come to grips with their past defeat and move forward. They insisted on building tunnels and using women and childen as human shields while they moved arms about and continued to attack Isreal.

Are you aware of the seige on Gaza, enforced by Israel since 2007? (link)
(Old Spike)
Wait, this is happening in GAZA? There are no Israeli troops in GAZA. Why don't they focus on building their country and proving they are not a bunch of crazy blood thirsty morons who still can't get over having lost a war. American's who still bitch about the Confederacy losing the Civil War havn't got shit on these idiots.
(Old Spike)
they are focused on building their country that's what the protests are about. israel has blockaded the area so not even building supplies can get in, under the pretense that things like lumber and steel could be used to build rockets.
(Old Spike)
Bullshit, that hasn't been the case since 2013.
But that said, if the people of Gaza would stop electing and producting such blood thirsty cunts the blockade would not be required.
(Old Spike)
Punish a people because of who they elect into government?
(Old Spike)
"confiscated land"? You mean the land that Jordan surrendered after their attack failed? When Jordan controlled it wasn't "confiscated" but when the Jews have it, well then that changes everything.
(Old Spike)
The right of conquest hasn't been a thing since 1928.
That's irrelevent in this case though, they're protesting for their "right of return" - UN resolution 194 (link) - their right to return to their homes they were forced from. The Zionist Jews marched 800k Arabs out of Palestine prior to the war in 1948, confiscating their homes & renaming the villages.
(Old Spike)
The right of conquest hasn't been a thing since 1928.
I'm not arguing it is a right. I'm arguing that it is the reality of what happened.
(Old Spike)
sorry i'm not clear on what you're arguing?
when jordan controlled the land, the people living on it were free to go about the lives. now israel controls it and they certainly are not, that's the point. i doubt people would have a problem with israel controlling the land if they weren't also kicking the residents off it and preventing them from going back to their homes. yes they were kicked off, and yes they have a right to go back. both are true, so how is one an argument against the other?
(Old Spike)
My position is that anyone who pretends that WARS do not have consequences is fucking lying to themselves.
(Old Spike)
Yeah wars have consequences & we have the UN to avoid things turning into a complete mess. Israel is a signatory to the UN Charter but blatantly refuses to honour it.
If it doesn't want to adhere to the charter it should leave the UN & be honest about being a rogue state. You can't have it both ways.
(Long Spike)
I gotta say that I'm absolutely shocked (SHOCKED) that your very nuanced and well considered views upon Israel seem to match up perfectly with The Right, FullAutoGal.
(Old Spike)
They cancelled the event, denounced her as an anti-semite & called for her to be stripped of her Israeli citezenship...

Interestingly enough the WWE is currently attempting to expand into Middle Eastern countries and the top brass of the WWE had a dinner with some top Saudi executives, and Stephanie McMahon (daughter of owner Vince McMahon and also one of the owners) wasn't allowed to attend.
(Old Spike)
was it a male-only event or something? or did the other american owners refuse to let her come because it might ruin the deal if they suggest that a woman is capable of running a business?
(Long Spike)
I believe it was a legitimate request from the Saudi businessmen...it is known that it happened but only because Stephanie herself confirmed it, beyond that it's all conjecture.
