At Standing Rock pipeline protest a woman was arrested who had a gun and it went off as they arrested her, her boyfriend and owner of the gun was an FBI informant who started dating the woman to infiltrate the camps, was only found out during discovery. She was used in the media to show how "dangerous" the protestors were.
More recently, the Gov Witmer case had more FBI informants than defendants in the kidnapping plot, and it was only found out by the state accidently releasing text messages showing the FBI concocting the plot and setting the whole thing up.
