One of my engineers used to "borrow" the oxy acetyline torch foe a similar battle against moles here in the UK. The explofions were lowder and sharper, more of a crack than a boom.

I like how the propane colluded with the oxygen to produce an explosion when ignited. Although the entire tunnel was not destroyed, the portion that was should obstruct the Gopher who lived there from re-entering the tunnel at that location.
