This looks pretty fucking good to me. It's one of the best sci-fi books I've read in a while, and the imagery in this trailer is close to how I pictured it in my mind. I was a bit worried that they wouldn't have the license to for the Delorean etc in the movie, but it seems that they sorted all that out. I'm really looking forward to it.

they are going to have to cut sooooo much good story telling to make this dazzaling to the ADHD ppl of 2018. sad. RIP to a good book. but why not lets see what their adaptation is. You know what would be a good book made today, Snow Crash by Neal Stephenson. or his recent Rise and fall of Dodo

There are plenty of completely irrelevant references that take up a lot of the book which has nothing to do with storytelling.
The author is working closely with Spielberg, which means it will never get better than this.
Virtual reality is also a very visual subject. As many VR enthusiasts will tell you, VR is impossible to describe perfectly, and you have to try it to fully understand the possibilities.
A movie like this on the subject will also help the VR industry grow as it will basically visualize its potential at its peak, in terms of quality.
Social VR of the future will be like cosplay, in the sense that you'll play as whomever or whatever you've ever wanted to be, with the advantage of actually being able to do what they can as well.
