Anytime one of these irreplaceable personalities dies I wonder how similar roles will be portrayed in the future and how they probably won't hold a candle to the original. I mean he was the archetype for the tough as nails drill instructor. I've been watching some old Bogart films recently and realized that there hasn't ever really been a replacement for him as a cool, suave detective-type; I can't help but wonder if the presence of somebody like Ermey was shaped by the times they grew up in and as a result, cannot be replicated. RIP
