Good idea to take off if you're the shooter. The armed robber gets free hospital care, legal representation, and will be on the street in days. The shooter would be arrested, jailed, and pay a lot of money.

I agree. Let's not forget that this happened in gun grabbing Commiefornia as well. If the hero who shot the armed robber was white he would have also been crucified by the left as a racist for shooting at the Hispanic robber. For fuck sake the left defends MS13 child killing gang members for no other reason than they vote Democrat.
EDIT: See that downvote, proof that Commiefornia fag visit Spikednation.
EDIT: Looks like a based user canceled the fag vote. Nice.

Santa Ana is like the little LA of Orange County, dirty and crime ridden. Doesn't surprise me that the shooter took off, even though OC does have much more loose CCW permit issuance, for a metropolitan area in California that is, it still takes a long while. Guy was probably carrying unlicensed and knew he would be royally fucked even if he did surrender himself. A surprising amount of gun owners in California are just saying fuck it and being extra careful if they may or may not be in compliance with the bevy of new laws introduced every year. Hell I even read about LEOs getting caught up in CA gun laws with increasing frequency, mostly due to the increasing "grey market" for off-roster firearms this state created with the Approved Roster list.
For those people that think "oh you'll never use a gun to defend yourself irl, that never happens, you'll just hurt yourself", I have one word: Bullshit. I personally know two people who had similar situations to this one in California where an illegally carried pistol may have saved their lives. These were normal, middle class people that worked in a really bad area and in a county that is famous for never issuing permits. Seeing no other option they took matters into their own hands and it may have saved their lives; nobody was hurt, no shots fired, just having the gun was enough to make the attackers flee. Scary shit though, this video reminds me of the scene from Taxi Driver, "I ain't got a permit for this"
