Sarcasm on agressive? Labradors are well known for being one of the most family friendly dogs you could get.

Nice misconception right there.

Breed (if not choosing a "working breed") has very little to do with being "family friendly".

Retrievers are well known for being "mouthy" (i.e. explore things with their teeth), very little pain resitant and easily exciteable.

Now this is  a really nice example WHY NOT to treat food aggression by a confrontational approach to dog training and how it is "setting the dog up to fail".

She sums it up nicely "That was really bad" in the end (but should have added "approach to the problem")

I was thinking about uploading this a while ago but there is not enough interest in this and the coward can't even agree on common terminology so there is no point in discussing this with this one of the few interested.

But here goes. I can't find the full ep in english so here is one dubbed:

First it shows him "claiming" the food so he goes into direct confrontation thus making a (unnecessary) dominance* "game" out of it.

Of course dog goes into his centre, where she learned to sit and lie down, Yippie, skip to 21:25 for the "result" of the training....

When the rubber arm is held into the bowl the dog panics and flees indicating the use of an electric collar in the "therapy".  Ask yourself the questions:

"Would I want my dog to behave like this when I go near their bowl?"

"Do I constantly want to be weary of my dog when food is around"

Here is a before after comparison of  food aggression treatment  using a basic obedience training and a stress free reward based training method. Please note that once the training is complete there will be NO NEED to always have treats available** for the dog when going near is bowl because the dog will trust the handler to feed him.

And LOL, no, I do not think that the Rottie spent one minute walking the fucking treadmill.....

* yes this case is one of the VERY FEW instances where dominance is the correct term as competition over  the food is created.

** the biggest misconception about reward based training is that one has to "always have the reward available, otherwise the dog won't do what they are asked for". This is simply incorrect.

Don't know how a dog trainer could have misread the situation so wrong. The dog was sorta relaxed laying on the ground, but clearly still uneasy with Cesar....and then he goes on an touches the dog's snout.
