not made a new m1a1 since gulf war..... times goes way to fast in some regards. Like to see a match with a 2022 abrams vs a clean unmodified version.

you mean new hulls? there's no need currently. the us has a complete abrams refurbishment program dedicated to reconditioning the tank from the ground up. they literally strip the tank down to bare metal, perform full structial checks, rebuild and upgrade from there. the best current fielded upgrade is the m1a2 sepv3 (2017) and guess who just now owns 200 of those puppys, poland.
the m1a2 sepv4 is still under develpment and will be a reco hull. it's just that there are so many abrams hulls that are available and in perfectly good condition why wouldn't you use them. even the abrams x prototypes are using a reco hull and if fielded will probably be built using recos as well.
