You are aware that Alex Jones has embraced his meme status and that spreading memes in order to make fun of him actually helps him? He's running meme competitions on his show, and it's making him even more popular, gaining him more viewers, which makes him more money, which makes you posting memes of him counter-productive to your intensions.

It's almost the same process that I like to call the "Bieber-phenomena"(There's probably some accurate term for it which I can't recall) where the more people who disliked him, the more attention he got. Which is what happened to Jessica Black. Which is what happened to Miley Cyrus. Which is what Katy Perry is trying to do. Which is what Conor McGregor succeeded to do. Which is exactly what happened to Donald Trump during the election. They are viral forces of negative attention, of which we are happy to give them.

And eventually those celebrities become tolerated by most people as mainstream because after all the ruckus, they finally present themselves as ordinary human beings with with some emotional backstory, with real struggles, in order to invoke sympathy from the same crowd that once hated them, and thus "converting" a hater into a fan with them barely noticing, because the process is gradual.

Which is probably the work of a public relations professional in most of these cases. Perhaps even the same one because their sequence of events towards success is incredibly similar.

In short: Virtue signalling on the highest level.

Alex Jones' advantage is that CNN and left wing media does that for him. They covered his divorce and custody battle for his kids, which is something a plentitude of formally married men can identify with in America, being probably the most divorced country in the world. And the easy perspective is thinking that his ex-wife wanted to divorce him for financial gain because he has become very popular. The other fact is that Alex Jones fans are incredibly devoted. And what keeps people there is his willingness to personally retract a story or conspiracy theory he's wrong about. Which makes him seem accountable for his work, which makes him appear more genuine to his viewers, whether or not he is!

As opposed to MSM who only retract stories in the middle of the night by some no-name news anchor, and adds small print editor's notes below false news articles without changing the title. And chooses to forget significant developments in new updates that they dismiss as irrelevant should anyone bring it up. His sponsors(Previously covered by John Oliver) are also just as profit motivated as the big corporations that own the competing networks.

You know who didn't embrace their meme status?

CNN.

That went well.

@PuffyMask - So he's embracing himself as a joke that we should all laugh at and never take seriously?  He's putting in some serious footwork.

I think you will find that the people who "Tolerate Alex Jones as mainstream" are complete fucking morons for which there is no hope and any attempt at getting through to them is a waste of time. His "Personal retractions" of conspiracy theories that he promoted like 9/11 and the Newtown massacre must be hidden behind his personal advertisements for his vitamin enemas and bullshit health food because they certainly aren't up front unless he is facing a lawsuit like he was with the horseshit Chobani claims he made and lost a lawsuit over.. You fit the description of a Trump/Jones sucker perfectly.

Excellent dissection of the issue though.

NO!  They don't realize it, stop giving them insight into how they are hanging themselves, just let them hang themselves again in 2020.

That was an interesting comment. I reckon he thought he could get away with it like he did during the last stages of the election when an interviewer asked him about Putin being a killer but instead it came off as crass because it was about murdering journalists.

He wasn't going to get into an argument about who Putin has ordered silenced because it's only speculation and he's a master at steering conversations in his favour.... he wanted nothing to do with that question. Russia has a pretty bad record for press freedom but not everything is ordered by Putin. There are lots of powerful & ruthless people over there & more corruption within the justice department than in USA. Painting Putin as some kind of evil monster is silly IMO.

That's interesting thinking you have. You might want to seek professional help for your Alex Jones sexual fantasies. It might be OK for you for a while but it's a bit disturbing. Nah, big ole Mona Lisa titties? I get it.
