I watched this, Coffee and Cigarettes, and Dead Man. Both are Jim Jarmusch films and they were two of the worst I've ever seen. I saw some interviews with him that got me excited to see his movies but I guess I'm just not cultured enough for his style.

Does he have any crowd pleasers I should check out?

It's important to remember that while there are some real gems out there most black and white artsy fartsy films are shit.  The White Stripes segment in this film has got to be the worst convo I've ever seen.

For sure. The only black and white movie I can think of that I actually like is Grapes of Wrath, and that's a bunch of commie gobbledy goo.

Never seen the movie. Just came across this on YT and thought the scene was comedic gold. Super awkward and great acting.

Just like this one. Has a fever dream quality to it.

The director is a "poet" and his movies have a kind of pretentious sophistication to them. I appreciate the artistic expression but it just doesn't work for me.

Check out "Waking Life" by the great Richard Linklater for a bizarre philosophical film that I think is much more effective and enjoyable.

Yeah I've seen Walking life. Must have been +15 years since I last watched it.  Remember it being entertaining but a lot of philosophical rambling with cool visuals. Guess I'm due for a re-watch.
