Have to disappoint you there, they have "speed kills" in Germany. There is a group that wants to implement a general speed limit, some support even cars bein lmited to around 170km/h.
"Marine drive" looks to me like mostly going through urban areas with only short sections being wide and open, for traffic flow it probably would not make sense to increase the speed limit there.
The general speed limit in the US and Canada seems a little low theough, in Europe we generally have between 100 and 140km/h (no restriction on SOME parts of the german Autobahn) on motorways 90-100km/h on single lane streets and around 50km/h in cities. And I agree this is probably because the US produces mostly shit cars. The EU spec of US cars usually includes better brakes and engine cooling.
If a car spins out of control they usually were going at excessive speed for the conditions, though, also the damage of the cars involved in a crash can be avery good indicator of the speed they were travelling at.
Nowadays texting is the most dangerous part of traffic if you ask me.

Of course it wouldn't be about increasing the speed limit everywhere. The video was speaking more about places like these where the speed limit is so absurdly low that nobody follows it.
In places like these unless you're keeping very close attention to your speedometer or set your cruise control you will end up speeding. Not to mention that respecting that speed limit would also make you dangerous because you will impede flow, create heavy traffic behind you and cause road rage. And the saddest part is that whenever police will enforce that speed limit whenever it wants to write up a bunch of tickets quick. All they have to do is drive up and down the road with an unmarked vehicle and distribute "speeding" tickets like they're hot cakes, essentially punishing drivers that were being reasonable and safe.

I would consider 50km/h too low in this area, here at such a location the limit would be 90 unless there are dangerous or heavy traffic junctions.
