I find the idea that a female human is some kind of prodigy of strength the biggest stretch when it comes to this new fangled star wars.

I think it depends on the kind of story. If this were a mobster movie or an action film that aims to be somewhat realistic, it gets to be a stretch. When it's Star Wars, and most of the combat is done via magical abilities, it's not so bad. You don't have to be physically imposing to fuck people up because you have psychic powers and lightning coming out of your hands.
Only problem I had was how she completely demolishes Kylo Ren at the end of the first one. Supposedly, he'd been in training for years, some of which was with Luke Skywalker, and he gets punked by some chick who picked it up over the weekend. I think that fight should've gone differently, especially since we're supposed to view this dude as the heir to Darth Vader. He just seems like a whiney little bitch now, and she seems like some invincible Mary Sue.

They're literally swinging laser swords and using magic, bro. There's no aspect of "strength" to it.

I totaly agree with you, i'm having problems with that too. In fact I have that in all the movies where a woman is supposed to be the total badass fighter kicking guys asses. Yea there are some strong females out there, but in general and in the end they are just build weaker and cant compete with males. Unfortunatly for me, in recent years thats really the hype, some cute sexy chick being a total badass fighter kicking everyones ass..blehh. Just makes everything even more unbelievable than it usualy allready is.

I remember reading how the reason for Rey's extreme force power is because shes the only living vessel for it.... like all the power of the Light Side is flowing through just her. Making it similiar to the Dark Side and the Rule of 2. Remember, the Force is always trying to balance itself. Not too light, not too dark. If its chosen her to balance it, she should be quite strong.

Anything to wash the bad taste of the prequels out of their mouths. Plus, they gotta appease the mythology of Star Wars, rather than risk coming up with new material and triggering fanboys.
That's why I loved Rogue One. It had faults, but at least it was a wholly original story.

Luke said in the trailer "I've only ever seen one as strong in the force as you. I wasn't afraid enough then, I am now." Rey is the real chosen one, not the Sith created fake known as Anakin Skywalker BOOM DONE roll credits unless she is the love child of
the greatest Jedi and Princess
