I'd like to see the exact same report of auto collisions as a result of texting while driving over the same time frame.
and then I'd like to see reports of it, including the climbing death tolls to be announced on news networks and social media 24/7, getting the exact same amount of media coverage.

I'd like to see the media put pressure on my fucking government to shore up the airports with some decent protocols. People are still travelling here from Italy, Japan & other places & nobody's wearing masks. It's a shitshow.
Our failure to screen people properly during these weeks is going to backfire.

Stopping the spread is really simple:
Close all airports, harbors and train stations except for essential food supplies for about 3 weeks
China put everyone in house arrest in affected areas, that helps of course but is only possible in a complete totalitarian government.

If that's only possible in a totalitarian government then it looks like we're heading for a depression because if we don't contain it half the workforce will soon be unable to go to work. Or am I being paranoid?

The way I see it in the rest of the world house arrest is not necessary atm but if they don't close airports and train stations soon this may change, Italy may be heading this way, they announced people have to leave 1m safe distance to each other.
My wife has it but I took measures, I'm fine:

They are cautiously going back to work but people are still wearing masks etc. A lot of Chinese I kow don't feel safe outside of China now. I know that the govt here in NZ is making a total meal of the situation. Won't even stop flights from Italy & isn't enforcing quarantines on people who fly in from there. Now we have a 4th case & the guy had just been to a Tool concert. Thanos is coming here soon, then we'll take a much bigger hit than if we'd just been more proactive.
Not to be alarmist but if this gets into the US in a big way we could see a global depression & then China & the rest of the world is a bit screwed regardless. The world economy is kinda in the hands of Mike Pence. Not to be alarmist LMFAO

Japan has only tested ~8,000 people
South Korea has tested ~130,000 people
Per million, Japan has tested 63
Per million, South Korea has tested 2,200
Japan is also making the data hard to find.
They are trying to save Tokyo 2020 but it won't work. The longer they delay taking heavy measures the less likely the Olympics will go ahead. It's not like war crimes where they can just lie about it forever.

I don't think there is much hope of keeping it from spreading throughout the world at this point. What governments try to do is slow the spread so that medical facilities are not completely overwhelmed for a relatively short period, but rather "under pressure" for a longer period.
