my favorite is "ukraine was attacking russians in the donbas so russia had to invade to protect them." of course to any reasonable person people living in russia are russians and people living in ukraine are ukrainian. also conveniently side-steps the fact that even if the claim was true, those pro-russian separatists could have run to russia since the border is right there and they had already been given russian passports, but there were no refugees from this supposed massacre. also conveniently the russian invasion has focused much more heavily on the coastal region connecting russia to their previous annexed territory than the area they supposedly wish to protect.
