By the looks of it if you're thrown to the ground you lose. Seems to be a combination of wrestling and boxing.
The slap hands is probably to test each others reflexes and probe for openings. The blows are meant to wear the opponent down until they can be slammed.
Edit, This is senegalese wrestling. And these two guys are the biggest champs in the circuit.
The ideal victory is to throw the opponent up and over preferably to outside the arena. But any drop counts, and the contenders are permitted to oil up.
There are two versions of the sport. Striking and non striking.
