I find it incredibly inconvenient how our past technology is mostly completely gone. How the hell did they stack the pyramids? How the hell did Ed Leedskalnin do it? But then again, what's in that there Vatican vault if anything?

egyptians used ropes, pulleys and men stripped down to the undies
ed used chains, pulleys, rachets to get the stones and knowledge to carve them, along with a drill and truck bearing to get the door to spin.
the vault has old books and letters
past tech doesn't go away, it becomes redundant. work smarter not harder.
