Rich people are completely detached from and don't give a flying fuck about the poor and shitholers of the world. Believe me.

The reason someone makes 360 videos about catastrophies and humanitarian crises is because the emotional impact of content when watched in VR has been found to be stronger than traditional media, which means people will spend more time thinking about it as a real world problem after experiencing it, instead of something going on in far away locations which is easily forgotten and ignored. The Facebook VR app lets you watch any 360 video. Being able to watch them together with someone instead of being isolated inside a VR headset, is considered a better experience.

That 3D avatars still can't convey the emotional spectrum of the human face in real time, is a technological limitation.

Yet we are already training millions of millennials to recognize emotions by the use of emojis in social media by giving younger and younger people access to smart phones, which could be one of the main reasons newer generations have a distinct problem with recognizing intent or reactions accurately. Obviously this is a problem, as (mis)interpreting intentions and reactions has become the pastime activity of the Western world, on college campuses, in the work place and the media. We are training children to express symptoms of Asberger's, which is a diagnosis given rapidly to more and more people.

What VR currently adds to a social experience is body language. And VR is still very limited in that regard.

The juxtapositioning of these emotionally inadequate avatars against 360 footage of the outcome from a natural disaster is not the problem. Observers contriving intent from cartoons are.

That being said, H3H3 knows what he's doing.
