This is pretty badass, I gotta wonder why the Germans didn't use seige equipment against the Roman engineers. Maybe their strategy was let them come?

no technical knowledge to make them, and not much in the way of organisation either. they tended to fight mostly skirmishes or ambushes, and even in pitched battle rarely against fortified positions. germanic tribes also tended to move around a lot (comparatively), so they weren't fighting against solid fortifications and never developed siege engine tactics or techniques.
