Police in Tampa, Florida, are conducting a review following criticism of a sign-language interpreter's performance at a high-profile press conference. An expert says the interpreter was signing gibberish while standing next to officials announcing the arrest of a suspected serial killer. Watch Derlyn Roberts sign at the Nov. 28 press conference.

The greatest sign language gibberish promoter of all time. Classic.

It checks out.
^ I'm fluent in that shit
Edit: Oh shit. I had only glanced at this when I got on the site earlier today. I saw that she was doing signs that were relative to the story, figured people were being naive again about seeing a wavy hand interpreter person.
My guess is she knows the language, but she isn't a certified interpreter. Maybe it was a past job of hers...?
Most of here ettiquite for interpreting is there, but you can see her searching and stumbling often.
She was actually trying, you can tell when she keeps going for "hour" instead of "day".
Weird shit.
Oh. Turns out she's been convicted of fraud before.

Criticizing ebonics sign language is racist and nitpicking gibberish is wrong.
