Youtube political commentators are all about hate politics. CNN has this covered. 2/6 sections in their politics site are devoted to bashing Trump. If they wanna horn in on Youtube viewers they could host people like Alex Jones but that would probably just backfire.

i'm starting to think we're going to need public funds to pay for journalism. not like a company, just journalistic sources and data, which privately owned news companies can use as sources, collate it, flesh it out, add commentary to etc.

Most OECD countries have this, it works fairly well to have state funding injected into a news company. It still has to compete in the open market place but with the tax dollar boost the market is less of a race to the bottom for ratings.
