My kids have a friend that's doing this. She want's to be a boy so the mom lets him dress like one. To be honest, she does act all thought and butch. Pretty sure she's going to be a carpet muncher.

It is one of those things that you can see early. I have a cousin who is quite gay and it was fully apparent when he was 5 that he was going to be gay; he also came from a conservative Christian home with a generic, nuclear family. It seems so clear there is an inherent inclination towards sexuality early.

There is fluidity in terms of gender identity at a young age for certain children. Most boys who exhibit signs of gender dysphoria lock in to a straight male identity after and during puberty. I knew a dude who was super gay in terms of his mannerisms (very female gendered) but was straight. He was the fraternal twin of a sister - when fraternal twins of opposite sex are gestating the mother's body has to deliver very specific hormones at very specific stages of brain development for gender AND sexual identity to take shape. Something got mixed up with him, but he was straight as an arrow. If he had been intervened with based solely on how he was behaving at five he would have been forcibly transgendered even though his sexual identity was straight - couldn't think of a more obvious example of reprehensible child abuse.
This is wrong, and it is a point of disagreement that will lead to violence if laws are passed requiring parents to transition their children based on what some fucked up teacher happened to notice about their child in some classroom setting. Shapiro is not kidding when he says "You come at my kids with that and I will shoot you dead." I'm of similar mind.

Is there any inclination that the United States is "forcing" people to transition their children?

Yes there is inclination. There are some suggesting that parents who don't buy into this stuff, regardless of what their 5-year-old says to a playmate or a kindergarden teacher, are abusing their children by not transitioning them and the "state" should intervene to ensure the child is given hormone blockers etc. so they can express their true identity and transition more easily into a girl (note that like 90% of this is boys to girls). You're most likely to hear this sort of thing from the same kinds of people who say children aren't raised and protected by their parents but by "the community" as a whole, and that the "community" decides what's best for individual children. They want to insert "not transitioning your child" as a category of child abuse requiring community intervention. I don't know how popular that sentiment is - I suspect not very, but then again forcing people to speak a bunch of gibberish gender pronouns wasn't something most people were demanding and it became law here.
